About you

You may have never been to a massage therapist before. You may have had a bad experience. You may think that massage isn’t for you.

You might even think that massage will hurt.

I don’t think that inflicting more pain is helpful. My approach is to apply slow and thoughtful pressure, using gentle stretching and compression to soothe the nervous system and adjust the reaction of your body to any pain or injury.

You might be concerned about someone judging your body.

I’m not a thin athletic person. I’m a guy who bears all the scars and dysfunctions of a busy life. So many of us feel excluded from good health & wellbeing care because we (apparently) don’t look right. All bodies deserve good care, and there will be no judgement from me.

You might be worried about what is expected of you.

You can book a free online session with me prior to your massage, so you can talk to me about your concerns and ask any question

About me

I've been involved in providing health and wellbeing services for over 20 years, until I starting getting chronic migraines and central nerve sensitisation. I have been looked after by some amazing massage therapists, who have inspired me to train as a massage therapist undertaking a Level 3 Sport Massage Course with the amazing Andy Cross at Wellbeing Fitness Education Centre, Towcester.

I specialise in working with those who experience chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic migraines, central nerve sensitisation etc, using slow gentle deep tissue massage techniques like myofascial mobilisation and traditional Thai techniques alongside my usual practice.

I am a body positive therapist, working with all ages, genders. body types and sexualities, and particularly encourage those who may be concerned about their body and movement.

If you are still a little puzzled or anxious, here is some advice before you start:

About myofascial mobilisation

Our bodies get their shape from fascia. It is a very thin film that surrounds all of our muscles, veins, arteries, tendons and other soft tissue. It  gives our muscles their shape, and allows them to slip and slide over each other. If we don’t move enough, this slippery film gets stuck together, reducing our range of motion, and moving against the stuck fascia is exhausting.

When you feel stiffness or pain in your body, it can originate from different tissues in your body. Myofascial pain is different from other types of pain because it occurs in places where your myofascial tissue meets or crosses. Myofascial pain may be difficult to identify because it can radiate across the whole body.

Slow deep massage focuses on moving and mobilising the fascia in the body, making it soft and pliable again.

Regularly receiving myofascial release therapy can:

  • Improve range of motion

  • Reduce soreness

  • Increase your body’s natural recovery process

  • Helps with overall relaxation

  • Improve circulation‌

  • Relieve stress
